RE: Don't want too - but I might HAVE too........

Caution, as I understand you haven't pulled a 5th wheel. I not saying you can't, and I'm sure you have the ability. My wonderful wife doesn't pull our 5th wheel. She is very capable of pulling a 5th wheel. You sound like very strong person and I like your grit. And I also agree with you, I would be going North as soon as they report it may be heading toward you. But I would seek another solution if at all possible. Good Luck with your choice. GBY...
P.S. I would never let my wonderful wife attemp to take off with our 5th wheel, the reason is because I LOVE her more than anything.

RE: BIGFOOT HYDRAULIC LEVELERS

We went to White Flint to have them installed on our Cambridge and didn't have room to install them in the area they would have to be. We decided not to have them installed. Just didn't want to do any Mod's while in warranty.
I would caution you on one thing, make sure your frame will handle the Hydraulic jacks. I would be concerned on anything less than 12" frame. That just my opinion, I haven't seen a problem with them on any 5th wheel that had them installed. I also think the Big Foot is a great system.
We just got a Mobile Suites and it came with factory installed leveling system we have 6 Hydraulic jacks and it makes the set up very simple and another thing I have noticed is with the jacks all down we have very little movement in our 5th wheel. No more King pin tri-pod and don't use the Roto Choks now. The system will raise the 5th wheel off the ground. However I wouldn't advise anyone to do that. Good Luck.... GBY...

RE: Maybe why RV Sales are down

We have bought two 2009 model 5th wheels this year, we were told several different times that about 65% of loan request are turned down due to bad credit or low credit numbers. In most cases you will have to have over 780 on credit report to get a good interest rate. GBY...

Since the down turn in the RV industry, I would say Teton is building what is selling. I'm sure the oil companys are buying. GBY....

RE: Dodge 3500 cab & chassis

We had a Chevy Kodiak 4500 which was upfited by Chariot Vans Inc in Elkhart Ind. I will say this if you ever tow with a hauler bed you will always love it. I made a mistake and sold the Kodiak. Tons of storaged space, I now have a 2008 Chevy and would love to have a hauler bed. However money is tight but the future is looking bright. If you go with a flat bed make sure you get the under bed storage (swing boxes). I actually would look hard at the hauler bed. To me a pick-up bed is out dated. And I also don't haul anything in my pick-up bed but a 5th wheel and a tool box. Trailers to haul stuff in is much better that the truck bed. Good Luck with you choice. GBY...

RE: rock guards for dually pulling 5thy wheel

When we first started pulling 5th wheels we got one thru CW, really didn't look very professional but didn't have any rock problems. After a while we came accross the Dura Flap company. We ordered a a set for the dually. I gave the rock wing I think that was the name to a friend. I haven't had any rock problems and I don't have to remove them. And with the 5th wheel we now have the front has rock chip material on the front which also will help. I highly recomend the Dura Flap IMHO its the best on the market. And they aren't plastic. Good Luck with your choice. GBY...

RE: Fueling up at Flying J

I will use Flying J if I don't get a discount. Reason being Flying J is normally a better price and the Fruel is Fresh. And they are designed to handle large rigs. I have been using Flying J since the early 90's. If you have a problem the Manager will take care of it. Getting ready to go to Texas for 2 or 3 weeks and have check fuel locations for Flying J. If you like twisting and turning there are other choices. GBY......

RE: Those annoying decals

I agree I don't like decals most are very cheap material and don't last long. We have removed all decals and dealership stickers which were on our other 5th wheels. We now have one of the first that has just about all the exterior surface is automotive type paint. And yes the longer you let them stay the more imprint they will leave. GBY....

RE: HOW HARD IS IT TO TOW A 40ft 5TH WHEEL?

I have never had a problem with the length of the 5th wheels we have owned. The have been between 24' and 39.9'. The Mobile Suites we have now is 37.5' from the pin box to the rear of the 5er. If you use State park its possible you will have some problems because most haven't been upgraded. We don't do boondocking or State parks so we haven't had the problem with length. If the RV park has large sites I will use the pull thru, however I don't really like looking at the rear of another RV so we use a lot of back in sites. As for triple axles I don't really care for them. When turning it puts a lot of pressure on the axles, yes I know they are used but you don't see as many as in the past. Good Luck on your choice. I retired from the Army after 26 years in 1993 and traveled in many different countries. I have only been outside the USA 2 times and I walked then Canada and Mexico. I want ever leave this country again. Its very simple just look at the problems in Mexico, and now they are invading our Country. We have to close our Borders. Its your choice to go ourside our borders so be very careful in your choices. GBY....

RE: plan to buy truck out state

I have bought 5 Trucks out of State 1 in Colorado and 4 in Alabama, I have used a Transit Tag or drive out tag until I return to Tennessee and then pay the Tax and put Tennessee tags on. Some States require you to pay some tax but Tennessee has always took that off. As for repair, GM warranty is good at many different locations. But our last 5 GM Trucks have only had to have warranty work done less than 6 times. Remember the Duramax/Allison is a proven combo and doesn't have to have very many repairs. However some are having problems with the new DPF systems, I have had none so for. Did have to return for CEL because of the remote start. You will be fine with the GM Truck. Good Luck. GBY....

RE: Tuning DirectTv dish signal?????

We have used Direct-Tv since we bought the first 5th wheel. As for setting up I have set up in most every State in the lower 48 and have always gotten a good signal. Using the menue on the Direct-Tv set up to get the tilt and elevation numbers just get the Tri-Pod set up make sure its level thats a must. Then mount the Dish to the Tri-Pod and hook the RG-6 cables and sweep left to right as the wife watches the signal on the Tv and lock it to the highest setting. I also have a Bird dog but very seldom ever use it. Thats the only gadget I would recomend is the Bird dog, however its kinda expensive. We do have HDTV in our stick house and the 5th wheel. I also set up our stick house also which we just build. Good Luck. GBY....
